We’ve been in our home a little over 2 years now. When we moved in our backyard was “done”. I use this term lightly here. There was grass, a patio, a pool and some plants. At first, this was enough. While we didn’t love it, it wasn’t a big dirt patch and our daughter and dogs were happy.
At first glance, not so bad right? However, the left side of the concrete is lifted, creating about a 1 1/2″ gap between the deck and the top of the tiles. Plus, the tile….very outdated. And as time has gone on, we’ve noticed that the previous owners painted the surface of the pool and all the paint began chipping off.
The plants were overgrown. And nothing I particularly loved. The sage bushes attract bees by the hundreds. They got ripped out shortly after moving in. The grass has been a pain in the rear end from day one. Bermuda grass took over and was awful!
So as you can see, not horrible but definitely needed some attention and love. This year we decided we were going to tackle it. And boy have we ever! Weeks of receiving bids and planning out what we wanted has finally come to a head. We are in the midst of a major overhaul and our backyard looks quite different now. It has about 1 week left until it is completely done, but here are some teaser photos!
Tile and plaster gone. And the lifted concrete has been removed!
Bermuda grass….OUT! What will go in its place? You shall see….
Back wall, that was essentially dirt, rock and overgrown plants…demolished.
And what is going on? Stay tuned!
